Flower Festival in Notto

The annual flower festival or “Infiorata” celebrates the arrival of Spring in the baroque city of Notto an features amazing displays of fresh cut flower mosaics taking up the entire street of Via Nico Laci. The whole town participates in this wonderful and famous Sicilian event. The festive atmosphere and the parade on main street announce the beginning of the art work.

The floral carpet or greeting to Spring: in Nicolaci in Noto, each year the third Sunday in May, a cascade of thousands of flowers, expertly arranged on the road, making the vision of baroque city full of scents and colors. This event is one of the best on the island of Sicily. In the streets a series of Palaces belonging to the nobility which create a surprising prospective: Modica place, Giunta palace. But it is the actual city of Noto that brings all these things together.
The crates of fresh flower petals arrive in late afternoon, all colors and sizes!

All the creativity begins to appear on the street in the form of beautiful flower designs!

The main showcase takes places in Via Nicolaci where people can look down to enjoy the flower images and then up to admire the wonderful baroque balconies.
Amazing designs of baroque balconies overhead!
