Happy Birthday REX

How about a trip to nice cool Phoenix on the first day of August?  I would do that for Rex!

When I think of Rex I will always remember the Washington DC trip we took together.  I was to attend a conference in Washington DC, so Craig and I decided to take Rex and Griffin along to see the sights with Craig while I was in meetings all day.  Both boys were excited to go so we booked the tickets to spend an extended weekend in Washington DC.  It fell the end of July through the first of August, not exactly cool there either but yet again we had a great time.

As we checked into our hotel they boys were asked if they would like a pet fish in their room for the week that we were there. That was a resounding yes and as we reached our room two gold fish were delivered by room service, one for each night stand.  That was a great sign we were in for a better than average weekend.  We spent the weekend sauntering up and down the Capitol Mall from Abraham Lincoln through the Vietnam Memorial from the White House to the National Mint to watch money being produced.  Hardly a museum escaped and at least three trips to the National Air and Space Museum.

Rex and Griffin were hot and sweaty every day, but never a complaint about the thousands of mile we put on the bottom of their shoes.  They laughed and joked all day long.  Every night we wrote in their journals about the favorite things they had done or seen that day.  Rex kept us laughing long after the lights went out about his journal entries.  He is a very creative writer and observant of the oddities of life that happen unnoticed by most.  Some nights we reread the entries just to hear them over again and laugh out loud.

Well, here we are few years later and Rex turns twelve.  Still happy and ready for any adventure. I am happy to be part of his twelfth birthday celebration. He has grown into an amazing young man.  Let's do this again next year!

July 20, 2013-Garrett and Cindi's wedding

The beginning of this story actually starts in Italy on New Year's Eve 2012.  Garrett really one uped himself with a surprise engagement ring in his backpack. It is clear to see that Cindi did not expect to be engaged in Italy.  Abe was in on the surprise and was wise enough to video tape it on his phone so Thank You Abe from all who weren't there! It is so much fun to watch the Italian crowd's excitement, it will be very hard to top this engagement.

The event of Summer 2013 was most definitely Garrett and Cindi's wedding, a beautiful bride, a handsome groom and two adoring families all dressed up in their wedding finest.

A Bridal Shower was hosted by Veronica and Jovita, sister and mother of the bride in Alta Loma, CA

Cottonwood Heights, UT was the next stop for an Engagement Party.

Garrett and Cindi selected the Kellogg Mansion in Pomona, CA on the campus of California Polytechnic University for their wedding, so the rehearsal was scheduled for Friday, July 19 @ 6:00 PM. Garrett's groomsmen and family came from Virginia, Arizona, California, Colorado and Utah. Cindi's bridesmaids and family gathered from California but Grandmother came from Guadalajara, Mexico. The Rehearsal Dinner was scheduled at 8:00PM.

Next up the BIG event. After a relaxing Saturday morning at the pool while the last minute preparations were put together amazingly enough we all cleaned up to the Bride and Groom's expectations!  After months of planning the wedding went off without a flaw.
